Day Tour #1:  San Xavier Mission and Tubac

Monday, September 15, 2008, $105.00 per person (includes lunch).  Registration deadline for optional day tour is August 15, 2008.

The AMBA Workshop offers a full day excursion which begins at the fabled “White Dove of the Desert”, San Xavier Mission.  Founded by Father Kino, A Jesuit missionary, in the early 1700’s, the Mission is regarded as the best example of Spanish Moorish architecture in the United States.  Standing stark white on the desert landscape, the Mission still serves as an active spiritual center and resides on the Tohono O’odham Indian reservation. 

The tour continues in Tubac, Arizona which is a popular tourist destination and also home to a vibrant art community. There are over 112 artisans who actively create and showcase their work in the many galleries and working studios that surround the old presidio, once home to the 18th century Spanish military garrison who first settled Tubac.

Lunch will be provided at The Stables Restaurant at the Tubac Golf Resort and Spa.

Day Tour #2:  Kartchner Caverns, The Underground Journey

Tuesday, September 16, 2008, $95.00 per person (includes lunch).  Registration deadline for optional day tour is August 15, 2008.

The AMBA Workshop offers another full day excursion which will allow you to visit Kartchner Caverns located at Kartchner Caverns State Park.  Kartchner Caverns is a "living" cave with a wide variety of decorations, called “speleothems”.  These beautiful formations began forming over 200,000 years ago and continue to grow.

Before touring the cave, you will visit the 23,000 square foot Discovery Center, which centers on world-class exhibits, a large gift shop, regional displays and educational information about the caverns and surrounding landscape.

En route to Kartchner Caverns State Park, you will travel through Southeastern Arizona, approximately 1 hour from the JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort and Spa.  Your naturalist / guide will share the history and the founding of Kartchner Caverns as well as the history of Tombstone and Bisbee.

Lunch will be provided in Sonita, Arizona.

Golf Outing
Sunday, September 14, 2008, $100.00 per person (includes green fee, golf cart, rental clubs, taxes and service charge).  Registration deadline for golf is August 15, 2008.  Registration is limited to 16 players.  This is a soft spike preferred course.

Please join us for a golf outing at the Arnold Palmer Signature Golf Course located on premise at the JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort & Spa.  All participants are asked to meet in the lobby of the hotel at 6:45 AM for transportation to the golf course.  The first tee time is scheduled for 7:30 AM.  The Clubhouse Snack Bar opens at 6:00 AM.
