THE BREAKERS
The Breakers is a luxury oceanfront hotel and one of America’s legendary resort destinations. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the resort offers a timeless atmosphere that reflects the elegant comforts and personalization of a grand residence, but energized with a youthful, family-minded philosophy. The Breakers is a distinguished AAA Five Diamond Award resort.
Now in its second century, The Breakers continues the tradition of excellence begun by its founder Henry Morrison Flagler. The Palm Beach Inn was built in 1896 and renamed “The Breakers” as a result of an expansion project to accommodate guests requesting rooms “over by the breakers.” In 1903, The Breakers burned down but reopened less than a year later to universal acclaim. The guest register read like a “who’s who” of the early twentieth century America – Rockefellers, Vanderbilts, Astors, Andre Carnegie and J.P. Morgan vacationed alongside United States presidents and European nobility.
The Breakers is situated on 140 acres on the island of Palm Beach, Florida. The resort is located seven miles from Palm Beach International Airport, 42 miles from Ft. Lauderdale International Airport and 72 miles from Miami International Airport. Both Interstate 95 and the Florida Turnpike provide easy access to South County Road (via Okeechobee Boulevard), which leads to the entrance of The Breakers.
Dining: Relish the epicurean delights at The Breakers with innovative cuisine, the freshest ingredients and impeccable service. Nine on-site restaurants offer a myriad of choices for your dining pleasure. Begin with breakfast amid the pleasurable charm of The Circle. Savor unforgettable dining at the award-winning L’Escalier. Order from a traditional steakhouse menu at The Flagler Steakhouse or select delicious spa cuisine at The Beach Club Restaurant.
Golf: Two 18-hole championship courses provide variety and playability for all levels. The Breakers Ocean Course is Florida’s oldest 18-hole course and is located on site at The Breakers. This beautifully landscaped, 6,100-yard, par 70, course redesigned by Brian Silva is a constant test for all skill levels. The Breakers Rees Jones® Course is a lushly landscaped and challenging course designed by Rees Jones in an award-winning neo-classic style, set against the backdrop of the Breakers West residential community.
The Spa at The Breakers: This Mediterranean-style, 20,000-square-foot indoor/outdoor spa reflects the serenity and sensory components of the spa’s oceanfront location. Amenities include a private oceanfront sanctuary for outdoor treatments, lap pool, oceanfront whirlpool spa, 17 private treatment rooms for a variety of massages, body wraps, scrubs and Guerlain skin care treatments and ladies' and men's locker rooms with steam and sauna.
Reservations
A special workshop rate of $195 (US $) single/double occupancy for a Superior Guest Room is available to all AMBA Workshop attendees and companions. The room rate is exclusive of applicable state and local taxes (currently 11.5% per room, per night). The hotel cannot guarantee bed-type or sleeping room location but will certainly do their best to accommodate all requests.
For government travelers, a limited number of hotel rooms will be offered at the Federal Government Per Diem rate to participants traveling on the Federal Government Per Diem. The hotel rate is $99 per night plus the applicable state and local taxes and reservations will be made on a first-come, first-served basis. Please make your hotel reservation at the workshop rate of $195/night and then contact Centennial Conferences via email (amba@centennialconferences.com) to request the government rate of $99 (US $) single/double occupancy plus applicable state and local taxes as noted above. If a hotel room is available at the government rate, you will be notified and the rate of $195 will be changed to $99. If a hotel room is not available, you will be placed on a waiting list and notified if a room at the government rate becomes available. As always, your U.S. government ID must be presented upon check-in in order to receive this rate.
For reservations, please call 1-888-273-2537 and identify yourself as a participant of the Association of Military Banks of America Fall Workshop. The Breakers is a very popular destination so it is important that you make your reservation on or before Friday, July 31, 2009. The group rate of $195.00 will be honored three days pre/post the official dates of the workshop based on availability.
A deposit equal to one night’s sleeping room rate by a major credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, Amex) or a check is required to confirm your reservation. You should receive a written or email confirmation within two weeks. If you do not receive confirmation, please call 1-888-273-2537.
A one-night room deposit excluding tax is required at time of reservation. A three-day
(72-hour) cancellation policy applies to all reservations. If a reservation is canceled within three days of arrival, the full deposit will be forfeited (non-refundable). If a reservation is reduced in length of the stay within the cancellation period, a penalty fee of $100.00 will apply.
