History of AMBA Since 1959, the Association of Military Banks of America (AMBA) has been representing banks serving Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, Coast Guardsmen and their families worldwide. In 1985, the association’s services expanded when it co-founded the Armed Forces Financial Network (AFFN), a major automated teller machine and point of sale network. As part of its education program, AMBA conducts an annual workshop for its members and government personnel overseeing military banking. In addition to receiving briefings from key DoD financial managers and military bank liaison officers, workshop attendees can expect to receive updates from the U. S. Treasury, the FDIC, the American Bankers Association, the Independent Community Bankers of America, and the AFFN. The workshop also provides ample time to exchange ideas and discuss the latest banking issues.
