Military Banks Recognized for their Participation in Military Saves Week 2014

Don Giles and Amy Mauton accept the Miltiary Saves Award for Armed Forces Bank N.A. from James Lander, Military Saves Director

Providing exceptional financial products and services to military families is something military banks do every day of the year.  Nevertheless, during Military Saves Week each February when the entire military community comes together to support the Military Saves Campaign, the military banks kick it in gear.  The military banks have been a part of the campaign, which encourages servicemembers and their families to save money, since its inception in 2007.  Starting in 2013, the Consumer Federation of America, the national nonprofit that operates the Military Saves Campaign, has recognized two banks (one small and one large) each year for their exceptional participation in the Military Saves Week’s activities that encourage personal saving.

This year, for Military Saves Week 2014, First Arkansas Bank and Trust at Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas, was recognized for their robust Military Saves Week participation in the small bank category (assets under $1 billion).  First Arkansas Bank and Trust, along with its partners, reached all 26 units on the installation during Military Saves Week.  Their goal was to reach out to each unit on base to let them know about the Campaign, and how they could participate and take the Military Saves Pledge.  Their base-level contribution and accomplishments were recognized during an awards luncheon at the Association of Military Banks of America (AMBA) Annual Workshop on Monday, 18 August 2014.  First Arkansas Bank and Trust has won twice (2013 and 2014) in the small bank category for the Military Saves Award.

Armed Forces Bank, NA, at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida, was recognized in the large bank category (assets of $1 billion or more) for its exceptional participation in Military Saves Week.  Armed Forces Bank established many programs as part of their Military Saves activities, including taking the Military Saves Pledge as part of all promotions as a way to highlight the importance of making a commitment to saving regularly.  Armed Forces Bank also provided monetary incentives with matching funds to promote automatic savings.  Armed Forces Bank was recognized at the AMBA Annual Workshop awards luncheon on Monday, 18 August 2014.

Congratulations to both military banks’ leadership and staff for their outstanding support of Military Saves Week 2014.

This luncheon was sponsored by USAA.  As always, thank you USAA for your support.
